Collaboratory Programs

The Collaboratory serves as an incubator for new collaborative modes of scholarship, teaching and engagement. Among its activities, the Collaboratory curates programming designed to spark new conversations and visions for the future of the humanities, and it actively explores new models of career diversity for humanities PhDs. While maintaining roots in the long-standing disciplines and departments, the Collaboratory works to facilitate the formation of new constellations of humanities faculty and students—in working groups, initiatives and centers—all designed to create new knowledge through collaboration with communities on and beyond campus.

South Asian Studies Initiative

South Asian Studies at Ohio State is a vibrant and growing program, connecting students and faculty across departments who are interested in the study of South Asian languages, history, art, culture, society, and politics.

Abolitionist Epistemologies

Abolitionist Epistemologies is a working group organized to understand the connections between the arts, humanities, sciences and technologies in their role in the expansion of the notion of abolition. The life of abolition, we argue, necessitates a collective imaginary beyond disciplinary distinctions, to allow it to dismantle the material and semiotic structures of racial capitalism.

Living Art Eco Lab

The Living Art Eco Lab Working Group works to conceptualize and create the most relevant and innovative living art/eco physical lab and intellectual hub possible at the intersections of art, ecology, biology, and sustainability, among other fields. We envision a Living Art/Eco Lab as a creative place to engage with the beauty and intelligence of non-human life. Sensory exhibits, technological interfaces, collaborative workshops, and visiting scholars will bring attention to - and nurture respect for - the living things we rely upon. Together we will explore the interrelationships between art, science, nature, culture, and health.
